Cookies Policy — Academic Calculators

Cookies Policy

Last Updated: June 15, 2026

🔒 THE SHORT VERSION: I do not use advertising cookies, and I never use cookies to track or save your academic grades, marks, or calculation results. My calculators process your data entirely in your browser, not on my servers.

This Cookies Policy explains how I use cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit my academic calculator website (the “Service”). By continuing to use the Service, you consent to the use of cookies as described below.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site owners. HTML5 Local Storage works similarly but can store slightly more data directly in your browser.

2. How I Use Cookies

I use cookies and local storage for very limited, privacy-respecting purposes—primarily to ensure the website functions properly and to understand general traffic patterns so I can improve the tools. I categorize the cookies I use as follows:

a) Strictly Necessary / Technical Cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function properly. They do not track you or store personal information.

  • Calculator State Memory: I may use HTML5 Local Storage to temporarily remember your preferred settings during a session (e.g., if you toggled “Marks Mode” or “Grade Mode”). This data stays on your device and is deleted when you clear your browser data.
  • Security Cookies: Cookies used to protect the website against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks or to ensure secure connections (HTTPS).

b) Analytics / Performance Cookies

I use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Plausible, Fathom, or anonymized Google Analytics) to understand how visitors interact with the site. This helps me know which university calculators are most used so I can prioritize updates.

  • These cookies collect information in an aggregate, anonymous form.
  • They track which pages are visited, the general geographic region (e.g., state or country), and the browser type.
  • They do NOT track your inputs. Analytics scripts cannot see the grades, marks, or credits you type into the calculator.

3. What I DO NOT Use Cookies For

My strict “No-Tracking” rule for academic data:
  • I do not use cookies to save or transmit your SGPA, CGPA, or percentage results.
  • I do not use advertising or marketing cookies (no Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, or retargeting).
  • I do not share cookie data with edtech marketers, recruiters, or data brokers.

4. Detailed Cookie Table

Cookie / Storage Type Purpose Duration Personal Data?
Calculator UI Settings (Local Storage) Remembers your Grade/Marks toggle preference temporarily. Session (cleared when tab closes) No
Analytics (e.g., _ga, _ga_*) Distinguishes unique visitors for aggregate traffic stats (IP masked). Up to 14 months No (Anonymized)
Security / Session Cookies Ensures the site loads securely and prevents spam/attacks. Session No

5. Third-Party Cookies

My website contains links to official university websites (e.g., .ac.in domains) or PDF circulars. I do not control the cookies used by those external websites. When you click a link to a university site, you are subject to their privacy and cookie policies, which I encourage you to read.

6. How to Manage or Delete Cookies

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can change your browser settings to block cookies, delete existing cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being set.

Here is how to manage cookies in popular browsers:

Please note: If you block strictly necessary cookies, the calculator UI (like the toggle switches) may not function perfectly, though the core math will still work.

7. Changes to This Cookies Policy

I may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
